Meet the Authors Behind Anna Normann
Anna Normann is the shared pen name of authors Natalie Normann and Anan Singh, whose writing partnership began with a friendly bet.
While watching a film with a rather disappointing plot, the pair began discussing how they could write a better story. When Anan's wife challenged them to prove it, a creative partnership was born.
Since then, Natalie and Anan have collaborated on novels spanning crime, children's horror and historical fiction. After taking a break from writing together, they reunited to explore their shared interest in World War II history.
Their latest novels, The Silent Resistance and The Librarian of Oslo, are published by Allison & Busby.
About Natalie
Natalie grew up in Haugesund, a small town on the west coast of Norway that has become the setting for many of her books.
Her fascination with World War II began with stories told by family members who lived through the German occupation of Norway, along with a lifelong love of history, even if she admits she's never been particularly good at remembering dates!
A prolific historical romance author, Natalie has published more than 70 books in Norway. She also spent over 20 years writing short stories for Norwegian women's magazines.
Her most recent historical romance series, comprising 35 books, has enjoyed considerable success as audiobooks on Storytel Nordic.
Natalie has published four books in English, including Summer Island and Christmas Island, two contemporary romance novels published by One More Chapter, HarperCollins.
About Anan
Born in Punjab, North India, Anan grew up with a mother who encouraged his love of reading and writing.
An expert at playing truant, he spent much of his school days outside the classroom. His first short story was published in an Indian newspaper when he was just fourteen, and short fiction remains his preferred form of writing.
Anan moved to Norway at the age of 22 and has travelled extensively, finding inspiration for stories wherever he goes.
He speaks five languages and writes primarily in English and Norwegian.
Together with Natalie, he has published crime novels and children's horror books, before more recently returning to their collaboration to write historical fiction.
